Twitter became a public company today, setting an opening price of $45.10 with a market value of $24.5 billion.
The social media giant, founded in 2006, became the 26th technology company to conduct an IPO on the NYSE this year.
It’s certainly a huge milestone for Twitter, evolving from a tiny Bay Area startup into one of the world’s most successful social media companies.
There are many factors for Twitter’s ability to grow and sustain ongoing success, but one of the most important is perhaps hiring the right people and keeping employees happy. To get an idea of how Twitter treats its employees, what makes them stick around and also produce results, the company’s Glassdoor page provides some interesting insights.
CEO Dick Costolo has a 96 percent approval rating, and Twitter overall is one of the highest-rated companies to work for. In addition, 90 percent of employees say they are confident in Twitter’s business outlook for the next six months.
