The Seattle-based startup is launching its first pop-up store in Manhattan next month for a little over one week in an attempt to let shoppers experience Julep’s online personalized Maven subscription program in real life.

Julep, which raised $15 million in venture funding earlier this year from Andreessen Horowitz, Maveron and others, wants to use the pop-up store as a way to build longstanding relationships with new customers. Shoppers will be able to leave with a “Maven,” box and can sign up to receive Julep products each month.

This is actually a return to the real world for Julep, which started as a brick-and-mortar shop when CEO Jane Park founded the company in Seattle seven years ago.

Opening temporary pop-up stores is actually a strategy that fellow Seattle-based apparel startups Hointer and Rivet & Sway have also implemented.

Julep’s pop-up store will be at 102 Fifth Avenue in New York from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., starting Dec. 13 and ending Dec. 21. Park spoke on the Future of Retail panel at our GeekWire Summit earlier this year with Hointer CEO Nadia Shouraboura. You can hear her thoughts on the future of shopping below:
