Every few months, the engineers over at Zillow put on a Hack Week where teams spend seven days working on all kinds of cool projects that improve internal efficiency.

While this one might not necessarily help the Seattle online real estate company’s bottom line, the Zillow Kegerator is pretty damn cool.

With the help of the open-source KegBot Project, beer lovers Christopher Roberts and Jarret Falkner just spent the past week building an Android-based hi-tech kegerator that can log temperature data, track how much beer is left in the keg, keep personalized online accounts and take pictures of people as they pour themselves a nice cold glass.

“As you can imagine, the Zillow Kegerator is part of the family now and makes frequent appearances at social functions,” Roberts writes. “We have a sizable contingent of homebrewers at Zillow, so it’s also frequently serving up some fine Zillow brew next to my desk.”

Zillow has been making several headlines recently and CEO Spencer Rascoff says he’s setting out to improve the company’s visibility in a big way in 2013 and create a “massive, enduring brand.”
