headsprout44Headsprout, the 14-year-old Seattle educational software company known for the MimioReading titles, has been acquired by Cambium Learning Group’s Learning A-Z unit. Terms of the deal were not announced.

headsproutHeadsprout, originally backed by Kaplan, was acquired by Cambridge, Mass.-based Mimio in 2011. Skyline Capital acquired Mimio in July, and decided to sell off Headsprout.

Headsprout makes the MimioReading classroom products, helping kids to learn to read through animated episodes.

“Headsprout is an ideal addition to our family of blended learning solutions,” said Bob Holl, president and co-founder of Learning A-Z. “Their track record of efficacy includes a wealth of case studies, all of which are a testament to their quality.” The company plans to add Headsprout to its Reading A-Z and Raz-Kids products. 

Skyview Capital is headquartered in Los Angeles, and has completed nearly 20 transactions.
