GlobeSherpa, a Portland-based provider of secure mobile ticketing software and services, today announced a $1.3 million series B capital funding led by The Oregon Angel Fund to help the startup expand its business across the globe.

“We are excited to be supported by investors at the Oregon Angel Fund (OAF), who saw the success and solutions we’ve provided in Portland, and who believe our technology is poised for rapid adoption in other transit systems and mobile ticketing opportunities,” writes CEO Nat Parker.

GlobeSherpa was founded three years ago in the Rose City and signed a deal last year with TriMet, Oregon’s largest provider of bus, light rail and commuter rail transit services. The company allows riders to pay for their ticket with their smartphones and use the device as proof of payment. Full rollout of the service planned for this summer.

“Mobile ticketing is a fast-growing emerging market and we believe
GlobeSherpa has the right team and technology to be a leader,”
Scott Grout, member of the Oregon Angel Fund, said in a press release.

GlobeSherpa is a graduate of the Portland Seed Fund and has a staff of nine.
