We’ve been working hard to assemble a great lineup of speakers for the GeekWire Summit, and we have more surprises in store as we prepare for our annual technology conference on Sept. 12 in downtown Seattle. A quick reminder for anyone planning to attend: Early bird rates for the day-long event are about to expire, so be sure to get your tickets today.

GW_sponsorGraphic_summit2013So what is the GeekWire Summit, anyway? We started this event last year based on our belief that the Pacific Northwest tech community deserves a premier conference that brings in top newsmakers from around the technology world, and shines a light on what’s emerging from this region to impact the world. The event explores the trends that drive the stories we cover every day, and identifies the technologies that promise to shake up the industry in the years ahead.

It’s also a chance to hear directly from tech newsmakers. Our lineup this year includes top Silicon Valley venture capitalist (and early Twitter investor) Bill Gurley, Microsoft Halo leader Bonnie Ross, Zillow co-founder Rich Barton, acclaimed photographer Chase Jarvis, HBO technology chief Otto Berkes and many others. Stay tuned for more announcements in the weeks ahead.

Here’s a new addition, as well: Bloomberg Businessweek’s Brad Stone, who is literally writing the book on Amazon, will join us at the GeekWire Summit to moderate a panel on the future of retail — featuring veterans of Amazon, Nordstrom and Starbucks whose startups and technologies are changing the way we shop.

And a capstone panel on the future of innovation — one of the most popular sessions at last year’s event — will feature industry vets including Jeremy Jaech (of Aldus and Visio fame) who has returned to the startup world as the CEO of home sensor startup SNUPI Technologies, a UW spin-out.

speakers888That’s just a portion of the content-filled agenda for the day. Last year’s GeekWire Summit drew more than 500 entrepreneurs, business leaders, engineers and other members of the tech community, and made headlines on sites including Reuters, CNET, Engadget and, of course, GeekWire. This year’s event will be even bigger, expanding to a full day.

And, this year, we’ve got plenty of networking opportunities, with two fun parties in the mix. Zillow will be hosting a pre-event happy hour on the evening of Sept. 11th at their downtown Seattle headquarters, while Avalara will host a post-event after-party immediately following the Summit. (Admission to both parties comes with your Summit ticket).

Early bird tickets are available here, so make sure to get yours today before prices go up.

Important note: GeekWire members are automatically signed up for this GeekWire event and others throughout the year. If you’re already a GeekWire member, check your email for your registration details. More details on GeekWire memberships are available here.
