[Note to radio listeners: GeekWire is airing at a new time starting this weekend, at 7 p.m. Saturdays on KIRO Radio, 97.3 FM in Seattle. You can always catch the latest episode as a podcast each Saturday here on GeekWire, or via iTunes and Stitcher.]

This week on the GeekWire radio show and podcast, we’re joined by Chase Jarvis, the award-winning commercial photographer who handles creative assignments around the world for top brands — REI, Nike, Samsung and others — when he’s not working as an entrepreneur back in Seattle.

Jarvis, who just returned from a shoot in Iceland, tells us about some of his latest projects — including a campaign for Samsung depicting one of his recurring dreams, floating in the air among vividly colored clouds. That shoot featured a trampoline, slow-motion cameras and air cannons.

He is also the co-founder of creativeLIVE, which offers online courses, taught by leading experts, through a simple-yet-effective business model that Jarvis explains during the show.

And he has experience in the world of apps, through his past “Best Camera” app for the iPhone. Although that project isn’t active anymore, Jarvis talks with us about some of his current favorite camera apps, and his top tips to help us take better pictures with our smartphones.

All of this is a sneak preview of an upcoming session at the GeekWire Summit, Sept. 12 in Seattle. Jarvis is one of our speakers at the event, where he will be interviewed on stage by GeekWire columnist Monica Guzman about the future of creativity, online learning and more.

The radio conversation begins at 8:00 in the audio player above, following our “Week in Geek” news roundup. Topics this week include ValueAct Capital’s “cooperation agreement” with Microsoft, and the debate over the future of Google Glass behind the wheel.
