frontdesk11FrontDesk still isn’t saying much about its new service for helping small businesses schedule meetings, review client profiles and receive billing alerts. But the Seattle company, led by former T-Mobile and Expedia analytics guru Jon Zimmerman, is pulling in more cash from some of the region’s top angel investors.

The company just scored $1 million in fresh funding from Rich Barton, Nick Hanauer and new investor Boris Wertz of Version One Ventures. Zimmerman declined to offer new details about the service, which will be launching early next month.

Last summer, he told us that he came up with the idea after encountering paperwork challenges at the crossfit gym that he co-owns in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood. Other members of the team include veterans of Expedia, Avvo and Trover — all companies affiliated with Barton.

But he said they’ve got hundreds of paying customers testing the app. Total funding in FrontDesk, which raised $1.2 million last summer, now stands at $2.2 million.

Barton, the founder of Zillow and Expedia, called the new application slick.

“This is going to be one to watch.  It’s right in a sweet spot of smartphone/tablet-based (software-as-aservice, with which small business people can manage their businesses from anywhere,” he said.
