Stephen Smith

F5 Networks has named Sandra Bergeron — a former executive at McAfee — and Steve Smith — the CEO of Equinix — to its board.

Former Yahoo CEO Scott Thompson resigned from the F5 board last year, and the board consisted of six members prior to today’s appointments.

F5 Networks CEO John McAdam noted in a press release:

“Sandra has extensive experience in network and data security and related public policy issues, and has served in a wide range of executive leadership positions in the computer security industry. Steve is an experienced CEO and has a deep understanding of the role and value of our technology in data centers. They both bring very valuable and important perspectives to our board.”

Bergeron is a former venture partner at Trident Capital, and currently sits on the board of Qualys, TraceSecurity and Sophos. Prior to Equinix, Smith worked at HP and Lucent Technologies.
