doubledownSeattle-based DoubleDown Interactive today issued an apology and offered a special promotional code in response to a petition signed by gamers reporting glitches on its flagship DoubleDown Casino for Facebook and mobile devices.

But the company, a subsidiary of gambling giant IGT, also says the “concerns identified in the petition are not widespread.”

The petition on change.org has been signed by more than 430 people as of this afternoon, citing situations in which the game hasn’t properly credited them with the promised number of chips for a variety of activities. The petition asks the company to issue virtual credits of 5,000,000 in free chips to each active DoubleDown Casino user.

The petition lists examples of the problems encountered by users.

1) Free Daily Spin.  At times the free daily spin does not “pop-up” or engage and players have lost the ability to earn these free chips.

2) Invited friends bonus. … The $1,000,000 bonus for inviting friends to play your casino has been deactivated or is non-working, yet is still promoted on your site.

3) Daily gift spins.  Many times the gift spins do not appear, error out, or do not accurately credit the player’s gaming account.

Here is the company’s statement, issued in response to GeekWire’s inquiry.

At DoubleDown Casino we work hard every day to provide extra value and incentives for players to enjoy the casino. We frequently offer bonus sales with more chips; promotional codes so players can enjoy free-play in a game; free chips are distributed through emails, our Facebook wall and mobile push notifications.

Yesterday we were made aware of the Change.org petition and have been working to address player concerns stated in the petition. Occasionally, in the process of upgrading our casino, a small percentage of our 1.8 million daily players encounter disruptions. The concerns identified in the petition are not widespread. However, we apologize for the minor disruptions and are in the process of reaching out to Change.org petitioners, to offer a special promotional code valid for one year.

We encourage all DoubleDown fans to follow us at https://www.facebook.com/doubledowncasino so they can receive free chips every week.

GeekWire was initially notified of the petition by one of its organizers, and we’ve contacted him again to get his thoughts on the company’s response.
