wapostbezos2Jeff Bezos’ purchase of The Washington Post was the big news of the week, making great fodder for late-night comedians. We had some fun catching up with the goofiness from Conan O’Brien, Jimmy Fallon and others.

Here’s what Conan had to say about the $250 million acquisition: “Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, has purchased the Washington Post for $250 million. He said that last night, like most Amazon customers, he was drunk and buying crap on the Internet he didn’t need.”

Meanwhile, The Onion took to the streets to ask average Americans what they had to say about the sale of the newspaper. Said one in the satirical feature: “It’s kind of comforting to know everything will be owned by one or two people someday.”

And The Borowitz Report noted that Bezos bought the paper after clicking on The Washington Post’s Web site by mistake.

Meanwhile, here’s Jimmy Fallon’s funny take on the deal, in which he notes that Bezos got “same-day delivery” since he bought the Post before 11 a.m.
