To help you better understand what exactly is going on with the 787 Dreamliner fiasco, Boeing has created an informational website.
After a flurry of lithium-ion battery problems and emergency landings in Japan, the Federal Aviation Administration last month ordered all U.S.-based airlines to ground Boeing 787 Dreamliners until it’s proven that the batteries are safe and in compliance. As flight testing continues, Boeing has set up new website at 787updates.newairplane.com.
There are articles, videos and infographics that help explain the battery and electrical systems of the Dreamliner. Boeing also has a “Latest Statements” section with the most recent announcements pertaining to the 787 situation.
“Boeing has mobilized resources and formed teams who are working around the clock with the sole focus of resolving the issue, and we continue to assist the NTSB and the other government agencies in their investigations,” the site reads. “We’ve created this website because we think it’s important that you have a resource for accurate and timely information about Boeing and the current 787 situation.”
Boeing continues to conduct test flights and there has yet to be a solution for the problems. The company is also dealing with a potential strike by union engineers.
