Following on the launch of Day One, the company’s first literary journal, Amazon announced today that it has created StoryFront, a new label for short fiction released by its publishing arm.
StoryFront will be responsible for continuing to publish Day One, as well as standalone short stories and new collections. The creation of the label stems from the success of Day One, which Amazon says has been going gangbusters since its launch.
This is another key move for Amazon Publishing as it continues to expand its reach. Short stories seem well-suited for quick consumption on a device like the Kindle, and this seems like a good way for Amazon to continue to leverage a growing army of authors who have started their careers publishing on the Kindle.
In addition to publishing stories originally written in English, StoryFront will also release translated short story selections from around the world. Amazon’s first four selections come from Brazil, with more countries forthcoming.
