Facebook already makes it easy to remember the birthdays of your friends. Now, with a little help from Amazon, you can send group-based gift cards, too.

amazonbirthdaygiftAmazon Birthday Gift debuted today as an easy way for anyone to start an Amazon gift card, and then recruit mutual friends on Facebook to add $1-to-$25 to the card. The end result is one big “social” gift card with a personalized message that appears on the recipients’ wall on the big day.

I like this idea. It takes advantage of the social network and makes it easy for several people to contribute. Plus, this will be really robust if Amazon starts incorporating your wish lists or something similar so that Facebook friends can contribute to that one gift.

You can start sending Amazon Birthday Gift cards here today.
