The Seattle online retail giant debuted its app store for Chinese customers this past weekend, Reuters reported.

Amazon’s newest store offers an alternative to Google Play for those in China. Unlike Google, Amazon’s store features both paid and free options. Reuters noted that Amazon is the first Western tech company to sell paid Android apps in China.

This move could also mean that Amazon is preparing to launch Kindle devices in the country. Last December, Amazon unveiled a Kindle e-book service in China.

Meanwhile in Germany, things aren’t going as great for Amazon, as company workers there are threatening to strike over pay and poor labor conditions.
