Nominations were released this week for the 17th annual Webby Awards, the Oscars-style bash for Internet innovation, creativity and other wacky stuff. And like in the past, Seattle area companies are well represented on the list of nominees which spans categories in digital advertising, film, Web sites and mobile apps.
The public has until April 26 to choose their favorites. Winners will be announced on April 30, with the official ceremony slated for May 21 in New York. The show will air the following day.
The Webby Awards rolled out a slick new “Winners Gallery + Archive” last week, making it easier to peruse the past winners of the awards — including their five-word acceptance speeches — and putting the Webby Awards more on par with the sites they honor. Microsoft’s Internet Explorer team helped to make this possible.
