ZipWhip's John Lauer showing off the Textspresso machine

A few weeks ago, we told you about Zipwhip’s new Textspresso machine, an amazing invention that allowed coffee lovers at the cloud-based texting company to send a text to a coffee maker and have a cup of joe brewed automatically while they traveled to the office.

The story was one of the most popular on GeekWire last month, with TV host Katie Couric even wondering how she could get a Textspresso machine in her office.

At the time of our visit, the contraption wasn’t fully operational, missing one very special touch that proved especially tough for the geeks at Zipwhip. CEO John Lauer envisioned having the foam on the top of the coffee cup emblazoned with edible ink, showing the phone number or name of the person who placed the order.

Now, we’re pleased to report that edible-ink printing functionality has been added to the Textspresso machine as you can see in the video below at the two-minute mark.

For a more in-depth look at how the machine works, check out the second video from GeekWire’s earlier visit.

Here’s my interview with Lauer, talking about the machine.
