Online travel upstart Yapta continues on its new course today with the appointment of James Filsinger as CEO. A former executive at Sabre Holdings who most recently served as CEO of EZYield.com, Filsinger takes over from interim CEO Ken Myer who helped launch Yapta’s new FareIQ product during his seven-month assignment.

“James is a proven leader with a wealth of experience in the travel technology space and an intimate understanding of travel booking solutions, making him uniquely qualified to lead the organization,” said Voyager Capital’s Bill McAleer, an early investor in the company.

A graduate of Washington State University, Filsinger is relocating to the Seattle area from Florida for the new job. Last fall, he helped sell EZYield.com to TravelClick. At travel technology giant Sabre, he served as vice president of new business ventures.

“Yapta has made excellent progress in penetrating the corporate travel space and building a healthy pipeline of early-adopters for FareIQ in just a short time,” Filsinger said in a release.

Last year, Redmond-based Concur — the maker of travel and entertainment expense management software — invested $5 million in Yapta. The 15-person company has raised $13.8 million to date.
