Your Xbox Live Gamerscores are now worth something.

But before you invest hours in front of your Xbox, realize that with a new rewards system called MyAchievements, the actual reward people earn appear to be minimal.

Here’s how it breaks down: Xbox Live Rewards Gold members can now earn points that coincide with a Gamerscore. There are three levels, each with a different set of rewards:

Contender (3,000 —9,999 Gamerscore points)

Gift: A “Special Gift” during your birthday month. In the fine print, Xbox says the retail value of the unnamed “gift” is approximately 25 cents. So, happy birthday.

Champion (10,000 — 24,999 points)

Gift: That “Special Gift” during your birthday month again and a one percent rebate on your Xbox LIVE Marketplace purchases every month.

Legend (25,000 +)

Gift: The same “Special Gift” and this time, a two percent rebate.

There is also a rebate cap of 30,000 points from now until the rewards promotion expires on June 30, 2013. To rake in 30,000 rebate points at a two percent rate, a gamer would have to spend 1.5 million Marketplace points. That means $18,750 in real money. If you can spend that much on the Marketplace in nine months, well, that’s an achievement in itself.

Here’s an example of the rebate value on the Legend tier. If you purchase a game for $20 with Microsoft points, you’ve “spent ” 1600 points based on the exchange rate. A two percent rebate on that would be 32 points, which translates into a whole 40 cents.

All in all, MyAchievements isn’t exactly going to make you rich. But I guess you can’t complain about extra gifts on your birthday, right?
