Passbook is an iOS app that lets you electronically store things like tickets, coupons and gift cards. Tello debuted its PassTools platform on September 19 and experienced tremendous success with thousands of customers creating their own passes. It was enough for Portland-based Urban to make today’s deal.
“We love what Tello has created and see tremendous potential for combining our solutions to create the perfect pass solution,” Urban Airship CEO Scott Kveton said in a press release. “The combination of push messaging, passes and location-targeting offer an easy yet sophisticated solution for businesses to drive more successful pass programs.”
The price wasn’t disclosed, but it was an all-stock deal.
Urban Airship, which has signed on more than 25,000 customers, employs more than 100 and that could double within the next year. Tello, on the otherhand, employs just five people and all will remain in Silicon Valley under Urban Airship.
