T-Mobile continues to carve a niche around selling phones and no-contract service plans at discount retailers across the U.S.

The Bellevue carrier, which already distributes low-cost phones at 7-Eleven and Family Dollar discount stores,  said today that it plans to begin selling T-Mobile prepaid plans and the Samsung t139 phone at more than 6,400 Dollar General stores.

“Dollar General is the nation’s largest small-box retailer and a well-respected company that customers go to when looking to get the most for their money,” said Amy McCune, senior vice president of national accounts at T-Mobile USA. “This is a natural partnership to help bring Dollar General customers to America’s Largest 4G Network at an incredible value.”

The deals follow a decision last summer by RadioShack to dump T-Mobile in favor of Verizon Wireless.

In the case of the deal with Dollar General, T-Mobile will offer a $50 monthly 4G annual contract which offers unlimited talk, text and Web with the first 100 MB of data on the 4G network where available.
