“Always the bridesmaid, never the bride” no longer… T-Mobile should get the iPhone by next year.

It’s probable that the U.S. carrier will finally score the coveted gadget, according to Bloomberg, citing a report from Sanford C. Bernstein’s Craig Moffett.

T-Mobile will be the last major American carrier to offer the iPhone, with Verizon, Sprint and AT&T customers already tapping away at their apps and being swooned by Siri.

T-Mobile, whose CEO, Philipp Humm, stepped down last month, has had a tough time keeping customers from leaving for other carriers because it didn’t offer the device.

At the GeekWire Summit in March, T-Mobile’s Chief Marketing Officer Cole Brodman, who has since left the company, said that the carrier could compete without the iPhone.

“Yes we can. We have fantastic alternate choices,” said Brodman, citing its lineup of Android, Windows Phone and BlackBerry phones. ”And I think those devices — whether it is through the app experiences, through the network experiences or through the devices themselves — do things that rival the iPhone — and in many cases — do them better than the iPhone. So, I absolutely think we can be successful.”

Move over, Malkovich. Carly wants her iPhone.
