We spend most of our days chasing down and reporting stories, but as regular readers know, we think it’s important to pause sometimes and share the latest details about GeekWire, the technology news site and community that we’re building with your help and support.

In that spirit today, we’d like to take a moment to give a big shout-out to the annual sponsors who have stepped up so far to help make GeekWire possible: gold sponsor Filter, and silver sponsors Barokas PR and Splunk.

There’s some news in there: Splunk is a recent addition, and we’re happy to have them aboard because we know their mission will resonate with many members of the GeekWire community. Splunk focuses on the vast amounts of unstructured data generated by machines, making it possible to glean new insights from that data.

Their engineering office in Seattle is building the developer platform that provides APIs for plugging into the Splunk data processing, storage and management systems.

Filter, in addition to sponsoring the site, developed our GeekWire newsreader app for the iPhone, which you can download here if you haven’t already. (Be sure to update to the latest version if you already have the app.)

On another front, we’re pleased to report that GeekWire’s audience and reach continues to grow, and we’re on track for another record month of readership.

As many of you know, we’ve been working together as technology journalists for a decade now, and we’ve never before seen the growth that we’ve experienced since starting GeekWire last year.

Stories generating widespread interest this month included our dispatches from the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, our remembrances of Arfa Karim Randhawa, our unique takes on the SOPA debate, and our coverage of the acquisition Double Down Interactive, and its implications for real gambling on Facebook.

GeekWire is a top 30 site on TechMeme, the widely followed tech news aggregator.

Also growing rapidly is the GeekWire Job Board, which is now chock full of openings at some of the Pacific Northwest’s top tech companies.

And looking ahead, we have lots of good stuff coming 2012, including a great slate of meetups and signature events.

It starts with our Game Night and Meetup on Feb. 8. (Tickets are available here.) We’ve got a great crowd signed up, and we’re looking forward to seeing many of you for a fun night of old and new games, and good old-fashioned networking, at the Spitfire in Belltown. Thanks to meetup sponsors Microsoft Hotmail, Microsoft Playtest and Card Kingdom for making the event possible.

Here’s another sneak peek: We’ve been hard at work on a special conference to be held on March 7 (our one-year anniversary!) in downtown Seattle, featuring some great guests. Mark your calendars and watch for the official details and ticket info next week.

Later in the year, we’re excited to be presenting events including the Seattle 2.0 Awards and Startup Day, which joined the GeekWire family as part of our Seattle 2.0 acquisition last year.

And that’s just part of the lineup. (Yes, we’re busy!) Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks and months.

Contact our partner Rebecca Lovell, GeekWire’s chief business officer, at rebecca@geekwire.com for more details on sponsorship opportunities.

Thanks again to our annual sponsors, and thanks to all of you for reading, participating and supporting GeekWire.
