One of the realities of covering the tech scene is that you get a lot of random items delivered in the mail, stuffed into your conference bag, or dropped off at the office.
We return anything of significant value, including tech products that we review. But when it comes to the smaller stuff — the shirts and books and games and coffee mugs and other random items — it tends to pile up very fast.
Which brings us to the prize package for this week’s Name that Tech Tune contest. In the spirit of those famous mystery boxes at Archie McPhee, our favorite novelty retailer in Seattle, we’re offering up a grab bag of geek swag — a.k.a. a bunch of random stuff we found around the office.
You can see all of the contents in the accompanying picture — including Kinect Star Wars, a 2012 Seattle Science Festival shirt, a Microsoft Outlook shirt and mug, the book “Negotiating with Microsoft,” Brian X. Chen’s book “Always On” about the iPhone, and a “Spraytect” iPhone case with built-in pepper spray. (We hereby absolve ourselves of responsibility for anything you do with this prize if you win.) And so much more, including an Internet Explorer “IE6 countdown” travel mug and a custom geocaching trackable item from Groundspeak co-founder Bryan Roth.
We’ll be awarding this entire bag of awesomeness to one lucky person selected at random from the pool of correct answers to this week’s Name that Tech Tune contest.
