Profitable and growing, UIEvolution develops cross-platform applications. It was sold in March 2004 to Japanese gaming company Square Enix, and three years later was spun off as an independent company in a management-led buyout that included Ruff, Intel Capital and others. The company, which earlier this year purchased the assets of Splat Interactive, now employs about 150 people.

Electronic Arts, the video game giant which purchased Seattle’s PopCap Games for as much as $1.2 billion last year, has named former Yahoo and Levi Strauss & Co. CFO Blake Jorgensen to lead its financial operations. Jorgensen will report to EA CEO John Riccitiello and start in early September. He replaces Eric Brown, the former McAfee CFO who left EA in February to become CEO of Polycom. “New devices, digital distribution and a rapidly expanding audience make this an incredibly exciting time to join the game industry,” said Jorgensen. “EA is a leader on every major game format from packaged goods to mobile, social and free-to-play. Former Yahoo boss Ross Levinsohn has left Yahoo, a move that comes just a few weeks after former Google executive Marissa Mayer was tapped to lead the struggling Internet giant. A former president of Fox Interactive Media, Levinsohn called Yahoo an “amazing brand” and said that he was proud of his accomplishments in “helping define Yahoo as a leader in digital media and advertising,” according to an email obtained by The New York Times. The news was first reported by All Things D, with details of the severance package disclosed in this SEC filing.
CA Technologies has named Matt Sentena as vice president of sales for the Western region. A graduate of Oregon State University, Sentena previously led CA Technologies Pacific Northwest region.
