A new ranking of the Best and Worst Airports in the United States, published by Travel + Leisure, ranks Sea-Tac Airport the second-best in the country for wireless Internet access, based on a survey of travelers conducted by the magazine.
Seattle is No. 1 when it comes to coffee shops — of course — and No. 8 overall. Here’s the blurb from the magazine.
“It’s a no-brainer that the land of Microsoft and Starbucks would score second when it came to Wi-Fi and No. 1 for terminal coffee shops. But other factors are more middle-of-the-road, such as location (15th), cleanliness (10th), and overall service (11th). Readers also felt Seattle’s airport lacked spa facilities, a common complaint but perhaps more pointed in this overly caffeinated and wired city.”
The Wi-Fi ranking is a turnaround for Sea-Tac, which previously charged for wireless access.
The No. 1 airport for Wi-Fi is Charlotte, N.C., and the top airport overall is Minneapolis-St. Paul.
Bottom of the list overall: New York’s LaGuardia.
