The Nokia Lumia 900 is being positioned as the flagship Windows Phone in the United States, but a new report suggests it won’t be priced like it.
Boy Genius Report, citing an AT&T roadmap received from a “trusted source,” says this morning that the Lumia 900 will be launching on March 18 for $99.99 on a two-year contract. If it’s true, the price would continue the strategy from Microsoft and Nokia of using lower prices to give Windows Phone better traction.
Nokia launched the Lumia line in Europe in the fall, and analysts polled by Bloomberg estimate that the company shipped more than 1 million units. Nokia reports earnings on Thursday, potentially giving a clearer view of its progress with Windows Phone thus far. Microsoft is betting big on the Nokia partnership to reverse Windows Phone’s fortunes.
