One of the coolest things about PopCap Games — which sold to Electronic Arts last year in a deal valued at up to $1.3 billion — is that the co-founders pretty much bootstrapped the Seattle game maker to success. After all, we’re not sure many VCs would have backed a company that was initially called Sexy Action Cool.

PopCap’s amazing success story is one of the big reasons we’re excited that PopCap co-founder John Vechey will be sharing some of what he learned along the way at the Seattle 2.0 Startup Awards next week.

Vechey plans to talk about what he believes is one of the most important (and often overlooked) skills that entrepreneurs must learn on the path to success, sharing some successes and failures from the PopCap story. We’re certainly looking forward to what Vechey has to say, especially given his entertaining performance on the GeekWire podcast last December.

Vechey’s talk will lead us into the awards portion of the evening, which is promising to be a fun night. We recorded more than 15,000 votes for the Startup Awards in more than a dozen categories, including Startup of the Year, Geekiest Coffee Shop and Mobile App of the Year.

Tickets are going fast for the 4th annual awards, so make to get yours today by registering here. This is one Seattle tech party you won’t want to miss.
