I spent some time today over at Microsoft’s Worldwide Public Safety Symposium, and spent some time inside the company’s Global Security Operations Center in Redmond, one of three such facilities around the world where Microsoft monitors the status of its facilities and the safety of its employees.

I’ll have more details in a future post, but in the meantime, I got a good laugh out of this installation at the entrance — and particularly the employee badge below. Gotta love their sense of humor.

John 117 — is that 1:17 or 11:7?  The quote on laws thru Moses, or why go back to where they tried to kill — both interesting tidbits.

John is the master chief’s real name. He was enrolled in the SPARTAN-II program which made him known as Spartan 117. Due to the nature of the program, he became known as John-117, rather than simply John.

Why would a corporation try to insert a bible verse… Anyway, when the Spartans were enrolled in the SPARTAN II program each were given a number. John is Spartan 117.
