Wowser! Microsoft Surface scored a major endorsement today as Oprah put the new tablet on her coveted list of “Favorite Things 2012″ in advance of the holiday shopping season — with all of the Oprah-style superlatives.

Here’s what Oprah had to say about the Microsoft tablet …

“The Surface, Microsoft’s first tablet, feels like a Mercedes-Benz to me, people! The full-size keyboard built right into the cover makes work easy, the very smart kickstand makes watching a movie or Skyping a friend a delight, the less than a pound-and-a-half weight makes a great alternative to a laptop, and the many other features make it fun for work and play. Now, that’s a wowser!”

Nice little coup for the team from Redmond. We spotted this via Mashable.

I’m lookin under my seat, but there’s just fluff – Oprah, where’s my Surface?

  • Ballarding

Oprah is some expensive advertising. That must have cost the folks in Redmond a pretty penny.

What makes you think that she doesn’t legitimately like the Microsoft Surface?

Because he’s a troll. Therefore anything positive said about MS must be paid for.

          Yep. You’re right.

Kudos to Microsoft on scoring the much-coveted “Oprah bounce”!

Let’s not pretend that this is an ACTUAL endorsement. Oprah’s “favorite things” list selections are bought and paid for! C’mon man!

I agree – there’s no way that was an actual non-partial review. I find it highly dubious, and very likely purchased advertising. Where she says “the less than a pound-and-a-half weight…” — if she had said, “It’s really light!” I might believe her, but to mention the actual product weight? Come on! And “a great alternative to a laptop” — Seriously? Who compares the Surface to a laptop?! It’s as though she never heard of an iPad (which was on her “Ultimate Favorite Things” list in 2010). If she really thought it was so great, she would have said why she likes it better than the iPad, not just list off a bunch of marketing bulletpoints. “The very smart kickstand makes watching a movie or Skyping a friend a delight.” I mean, really. That’s a marketing pitch if I ever heard one.

Does anyone have a link to something that says these endorsements are *not* paid for? Because until I see some proof, I just can’t believe this was really her personal (unpaid) endorsement.

Surface is sold out at Bellevue Square and UVillage. MSFT up 3% today. Where is the Tech Press? Oh right…..writing articles on the Mini-iPad’s incredible new and revolutionary features that provide incredible user satisfaction that no prior Apple product could.

What a lie. I check microsoft store in u village every day for the last week to see how surface is selling. Surface is always in stock.

      • Mark

Yeah, right, YOU, an obvious Apple troll, took it upon yourself to personally check the Microsoft store everyday just to see if the Surface is in stock.

        Idiot.

And yet I still can’t quite figure out how Todd feels about it
