Gary Bedell sports some serious chops as last year’s winner of the GeekWire Movember mustache competition

It’s that time of year again. The weird and wonderful hairy time when whiskers start adorning the faces of men everywhere as part of the Movember challenge.

Haven’t heard of Movember?

It’s an international fundraiser during the month of November in which men grow mustaches to raise money for prostate cancer research. Last year alone, more than $126 million was raised.

We hosted our very own mustache competition last Movember, attracting some very creative contestants from the Seattle tech community.

We had so much fun that we decided to do it again this year, making the competition even bigger and better.  (Can any of you geeks top Gary Bedell’s winning masterpiece from last year?)

Heck, I’ll even jump into the mix, though my facial hair is more akin to “Shaggy” from Scooby-Doo. In other words, I won’t be taking home any prizes.

But for those who’ve got some serious chops, handlebars, Fu Manchus or walruses planned for the month, now’s the time to start shaping, sculpting and, most importantly, growing. Already have the perfect stache? That’s cool too.

To enter the competition, simply email a photo of you and your mustache, along with your name and title to john@geekwire.com, anytime before Thursday, November 29th at noon.

From the pool of photos, the best of which we’ll publish on GeekWire, we will pick one GeekWire mustache winner who will receive two free tickets to the GeekWire Gala on December 6th at McCaw Hall.

Happy growing! And don’t forget to send us those photos.
