Stephen Luczo

Microsoft’s board will grow to eleven members with the appointment today of a new member, Stephen Luczo, the  president and CEO of hard drive maker Seagate Technology.

The company announced the addition a short time ago.

“As the leader of a global company with more than 50,000 employees, with deep insights into storage, hardware, data management, and finance, Steve will bring a wealth of experience to our board,” says Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer in a statement released by the company.

A former executive at Bear Stearns, the 55-year-old Luczo first joined Seagate in 1993 and returned as the company’s president and CEO in January 2009.

The move follows the appointment of former Symantec CEO John Thompson to the Microsoft board in February.
