Sujal Patel

Sujal Patel has already built one powerhouse in the Pacific Northwest. Now, the Isilon Systems co-founder is lending his talents to an up-and-comer. Patel — who sold Isilon to EMC for a cool $2.25 billion in 2010 — is being named to the board of ExtraHop Networks today.

In addition, ExtraHop has named former Isilon sales executive Eric Scollard to the position of senior vice president of worldwide sales.

Patel, who remains in a leadership role at EMC, said that ExtraHop is poised to be a leader in application performance management.

“There is a tremendous opportunity for a completely new approach to (application performance management) similar to the way that the scale-out storage architecture we pioneered at Isilon has begun to revolutionize the enterprise storage market,” said Patel in a statement. “I am very excited to help ExtraHop execute against that vision.”

Backed by Meritech Capital, Madrona Venture Group and Andreessen Horowitz, ExtraHop landed a $14 million venture capital round last May. It is led by CEO Jesse Rothstein, a former employee at F5 Networks.

The company’s networking appliance and software system helps IT managers avoid costly outages.
