The bright orange BoltBus will start rolling between Seattle and Portland today, offering the three hour and 15 minute ride between the two cities for as little as $1.

Yep, you read that right. One buck. And, did we mention there’s free Wi-Fi?

The bus line, which started three years ago on the East Coast, is expanding on the West Coast and using the Pacific Northwest as its base. The Portland and Seattle routes get moving today, with the first bus scheduled to leave 5th Avenue South and King Street Station in Seattle at 8:30 a.m. (Arriving in Portland at 11:45 a.m.).

BoltBus' Webster Ayisi talks about the leg room

Four bus routes are available at this point, with departures of 8:30 a.m.; 12:30 p.m.; 2 p.m.; and 6 p.m. from both cities. Routes begin between Seattle and Vancouver, B.C. on May 31st.

Tickets have been sold out for the initial routes, all of which started at $1, for some time now. But Webster Ayisi, operations manager for BoltBus, tells us that one-way rates won’t top $30.

Ayisi gave us a tour of the bus Wednesday, showing off leather seats, the Wi-Fi system and outlets at each seat. What do you think? Would you give it a try?
