Is it time to bring Pluto back into the list of premier planets in our solar system? A Seattle group sure thinks so. The Greenwood Space Travel Supply Co. — a retail shop affiliated with the non-profit arts and writing organization 826 Seattle — plans to hold a rally this Saturday at 1 p.m. to protest the demotion of Pluto to dwarf planet status.

That designation occurred in August 2006 when the International Astronomical Union decided to reclassify definitions of planets.

Well, the folks in Greenwood are mad as hell, and they’re not going to take it anymore.

“I still can’t believe it. What utter nonsense!,” notes a message on the Greenwood Space Travel Supply Co.’s blog. “Who’s in charge? Pluto is still not classified as a planet in our solar system? Surely, someone would have realized this atrocious mistake years ago and brought Pluto back into the planetary pantheon. No one? Why not?”

Here’s the Facebook page with more information about the activities, including a protest march and rally which will conclude at nearby Neptune Coffee.
