The talents of Seattle entrepreneurs Jonathan Sposato and Dan Shapiro will be on display at the GeekWire Meetup.

We’re excited to announce the line-up for next week’s GeekWire Meetup and Elevator Pitch, taking place Tuesday, October 23rd at The Crocodile in Seattle’s Belltown neighborhood.

Come join us and soak up conversation with fellow geeks, cold beverages from the bar, and tasty wood-fired pizza, not to mention feedback from the judges and inspiration from the evening’s presenting entrepreneurs.

Without further ado, here are the presenting entrepreneurs for Tuesday’s pitch session:

  • Phil Gordon

Phil Gordon, Jawfish Games. This world-class poker champion, author, and technologist has made the bet that he and his team can create games that are “sticky and fun.” Urging you to “quit playing with yourself,” Jawfish is creating competitive tournament games for mobile and web.

  • Brian Monnin, Happly. This technology and media vet was inspired by the f-bomb to found Happly, which has developed an iPad app that helps families share the best content on the Internet and avoid uncensored websites.
  • Rodney Stearns, A Safe Way Home/Text No More. A former paramedic, this founder is passionate about driving safety, and with his first two apps, strives to eliminate drunk driving and texting while driving with some unique, gamified apps that leverage your social graph.

To top it off, no GeekWire event would be complete without geeky give-aways. Any attendee could get lucky and take home door prizes including an Xbox 360, a $100 gift certificate for Turnstone furniture, or an ultra-slim Wedge Mobile keyboard. This portion of the evening runs from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. (Tickets here).

Next up, we shift gears to Karaoke for a Cause, and raise the roof at the Crocodile while raising money for Year Up Puget Sound from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Got the urge to express that inner rock star, diva, rapper or crooner? Get your three minutes of fame on the big stage, hosted by karaoke jockey Aury Moore who will make you (feel) famous. Techies got talent? We’ll find out. Here’s how it works.

  • Put your name in and belt out your favorite tune (singers get a free drink, aka, liquid courage).
  • Bid for tech celebrities Rand Fishkin (CEO of SEOmoz), Jonathan Sposato (GeekWire Chairman, former CEO of Picnik), Dan Shapiro (CEO, Google Comparison) and yes, GeekWire’s own John Cook to perform for you (and bidders get a free drink, aka, extra incentive).
Rand Fishkin

Do keep in mind they’re singing for for our entertainment and for charity, and if you bid high enough, you can even pick the song. Shapiro is a Johnny Cash man, but you may just convince him to put his own spin on Barbie Girl. Everything has a price, but he tells me I can’t afford it. Did I mention the proceeds go to charity? So we’ll just see about that, Dan.

We wish you good luck finding something Sposato can’t sing. His hits range from the Rat Pack to the Biebs. As for Cook, entrepreneurs may not have seen this side of him during his hard-hitting interviews, but we’ve heard his convincing renditions of both Jack and Diane and Okie from Muskogee. You’ll have to hear it to believe it, so don’t miss out!

You can sign up for one event or both. Participation is not required, but certainly recommended. And, at the very least, it should make for some good reality-TV inspired spectator sport all the way around. Looking forward to seeing everyone there.
