GeekWire Gala: What to know if you’re going tonight

Team GeekWire is looking forward to celebrating the holiday season with more than 800 of you (!) tonight at the GeekWire Gala, our big winter event for the Seattle tech community at McCaw Hall in Seattle. Limited tickets are still available at late-registration rates, but they’re going fast, and we’re quickly approaching capacity.

McCaw Hall, site of the GeekWire Gala.

If you’ve already scored your tickets, here are the key details …

When and where: McCaw Hall, 321 Mercer St Seattle, WA 98109. Thursday, December 6, from 5:30 PM- 8:30 PM

Attire: You have the rare license to don cocktail attire, but feel free to come dressed for business or for intergalactic battle. Creativity encouraged and will be rewarded in our best-dressed contest!

Parking: Rock star parking is available in the Mercer Street Garage, connected to McCaw Hall via covered walkway. It has 1,439 spaces, and parking for the evening will run $12. Enter between Mercer and Roy on 3rd Ave N (they’re staffing for our event but please give yourself plenty of time because there is one entry point).  Click here for additional options — plenty of other lots within an easy walk.

Geeks Give Back: We’ve raised thousands for Vittana with our corporate challenge, and now you can help in the fight against youth poverty. The easiest way to donate the night of the event is to connect your Twitter and PayPal accounts (do it now! Click here sign up for Chirpify). You can tweet to donate, tweet to respond to offers throughout the evening, or come see us for good old-fashioned credit card payment. In any case, every donation of $10 gets you an extra drink ticket.  Additional rewards are available at $25, $150 and $250 donation levels, and the biggest donor will take home a $500 gift certificate to Knoll Furniture.

Geeks and Ukes: Rock out to the Castaways in one unstoppable bundle of four-stringed rock and roll.

Newsmakers: We’ll honor these leading lights in the tech community with a very brief program at 6 PM. Don’t miss the chance to raise a glass to these inspirational leaders.

Come as you are: Lord Vader and GeekWire’s Jonathan Sposato demonstrate the “dress code” at last year’s event.

Great give-aways: From Xbox 360’s to therapeutic massage, make sure you visit all five of our sponsor stations for visual displays and prizes.

Food and drink? Yes and yes. From champagne to signature cocktails, beverages will be flowing. Appetizers will be heavy, but it’s not dinner. No assigned tables, just tasty buffets and awesome conversation all evening.

After-party: You’re all dressed up and have someplace to go! When the gala ends at 8:30, a shuttle will take 25 guests at a time a few short blocks to Keys on Main where the fun continues.
