Turns out there is life on Mars, at least in the world of Angry Birds.

Rovio Entertainment, those masters of marketing and publicity stunts, launched an update for Angry Birds Space today that adds new levels based on Mars, plus access to content related to the Curiosity Rover. NASA and Rovio announced the updates for iOS and Android, promising to bring the content to more platforms later.

So, as it turns out, even missions to other planets have commercial tie-ins these days. For its part, NASA is pitching it as something of an educational opportunity.

“Rovio is teaching huge new audiences about NASA’s missions to Mars thanks to this collaboration,” says NASA official David Weaver in a news release. “It’s a great way to introduce both kids and adults to the wonders of the planet in a fun and entertaining way.”

Of course, if you want to skip the birds and pigs and just find out more about Curiosity, all of NASA’s latest Curiosity news and content is available here.
