One of many Babe Ruth-signed baseballs in Amazon's new sports collectibles store

Just in time for the Super Bowl, Amazon.com is rolling out its latest game plan in e-commerce. The company today announced a new Sports Collectibles Store where sports fanatics can purchase everything from autographed baseballs to signed soccer cleats.

The site allows shoppers to browse by professional sports — NFL, MLB, NBA and NHL — and items — jerseys, balls, shoes and photos.

“Our customers have told us that when purchasing sports collectibles they highly value authenticity, which is why we have teamed with some of the top sports collectibles sellers in the world to provide unique items with easy to find authentication and condition information,” said Peter Faricy, vice president of Amazon Marketplace.

Sports fans will get a kick out of browsing the items.

For example, a signed miniature helmet by New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is selling for $570; a signed soccer cleat by Argentinian soccer star Lionel Messi is selling for $500; and a mint-condition autographed Babe Ruth baseball is going for $46,435.

Collectibles from sports stars Eli Manning, Albert Pujols, Derek Jeter, LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Alexander Ovechkin and others also are featured in the store.
