Consumers are spending money online in record-setting fashion.

A new report out from comScore on holiday spending was released today and people spent more than $7 billion — $7 billion! — for online purchases during the week of Dec. 10-16. That’s an average of $1 billion spent online per day last week.

Since Nov. 1, consumers have spent $35 billion online, a 13 percent increase over last year. comScore chairman Gian Fulgoni said he expects free shipping promotions to help increase sales as the new year approaches.
