One of the hidden success stories of the Seattle software community is Winshuttle, which has quietly grown into a powerful player in helping business users easily work with SAP products directly from Excel, SharePoint and other products. And now Winshuttle is bulking up, buying Carlsbad, California-based ShareVis in a deal of undisclosed size.

Like Winshuttle, ShareVis helps non-technical users tap into enterprise applications with very little training or support.

“The founding visions behind Winshuttle and ShareVis are nearly identical – to develop software that enables non-technical users to build process improvement solutions around their enterprise applications,” said Lewis Carpenter, CEO of Winshuttle. “Our respective areas of expertise and overall philosophy for helping customers are completely aligned, which will allow us to immediately offer significant incremental value to customers of both companies.”

ShareVis will continue to maintain its offices in Carlsbad and the company’s employees (less than 10) will join Winshuttle.

Last year, Winshuttle’s sales grew by 30 percent and it achieved strong profits for the year. It boasts more than 1,000 customers, including Columbia Sportswear, Goodrich Corporation and Lexar. The company, which raised $12 million in growth financing last fall from Summit Partners, employs 141 people.
