Technology reporters and bloggers get countless appeals for coverage every day — so much that it’s tough sometimes to sort it all out. But when Sir Mix-A-Lot makes his pitch in a personal video message, it’s difficult to ignore.

See the video above to get a sense for how the rap legend and his partners at Seattle’s Giant Thinkwell tried to get my colleague John Cook’s attention prior to the debut of their new Mix-N-Match game on Facebook this morning. And we ended up writing a story on the game. In reality we would have covered the news regardless, given the novelty and newsworthiness, and the connections to the Seattle community. But the video was a nice touch, and fun.

The online video shout-out actually is one of many that Mix plans to offer as part of the Mix-N-Match game.

For the record, the video also proves that Sir Mix-A-Lot is an idea machine when it comes to technology. It’s only a matter of time before someone brings to market the innovative iPhone app he mentions at the end. Clearly it fills an unmet need.

On top of interest levels (what make news), Mix is the nicest man, and I’m glad to see any of his projects get coverage.  Thanks Todd (and John)!

Mix has to be one of the funniest, most entertaining guys to work with. If you haven’t checked out the game, definitely give it a spin at :D

Someone needs to mix Sir Mix a Lots DNA with Steve Ballmer’s and watch the madness ensue :)
