Technology reporters and bloggers get countless appeals for coverage every day — so much that it’s tough sometimes to sort it all out. But when Sir Mix-A-Lot makes his pitch in a personal video message, it’s difficult to ignore.

See the video above to get a sense for how the rap legend and his partners at Seattle’s Giant Thinkwell tried to get my colleague John Cook’s attention prior to the debut of their new Mix-N-Match game on Facebook this morning. And we ended up writing a story on the game. In reality we would have covered the news regardless, given the novelty and newsworthiness, and the connections to the Seattle community. But the video was a nice touch, and fun.

The online video shout-out actually is one of many that Mix plans to offer as part of the Mix-N-Match game.

For the record, the video also proves that Sir Mix-A-Lot is an idea machine when it comes to technology. It’s only a matter of time before someone brings to market the innovative iPhone app he mentions at the end. Clearly it fills an unmet need.
