Microsoft’s Windows team seems to have figured out a thing or two about marketing to college students. Not only is it offering them free Xbox 360s when they buy Windows PCs, but it’s using a ‘Halo’ Spartan to promote the deal.

In a new television ad previewed by the company this afternoon, a red Spartan takes aim at and completely obliterates that old college standby, the mini-fridge, to drive home the point that there are a lot better things to buy for a dorm room these days.

Now we know why Microsoft was careful to keep intellectual property rights to Halo when it spun off the Bungie development studio.
