Microsoft and Verizon Wireless this morning confirmed plans to release the first Windows Phone for Verizon, the HTC Trophy, online on May 26 and in stores June 2.

The debut of the phone will add Verizon to AT&T and T-Mobile as carriers for Windows Phone in the U.S., which should help boost Microsoft’s bid to gain traction against the Apple iPhone and phones running Google’s Android operating system.

The HTC Trophy will cost $150, with a two-year contract, after a $50 mail-in rebate. As an extra little sweetener, Microsoft is throwing in a free Xbox 360 console game (Halo: Reach, Kinect Sports and Lode Runner) for anyone who buys one of the phones before July 15.

Sorry, LTE fans, but phone will run on Verizon’s 3G network. Bummer, we know. Here are the official specs.

  • 1 GHz Snapdragon processor
  • WVGA 3.8-inch touchscreen
  • Surround sound through SRS WOW HD™
  • 5-megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash
  • 720p HD video capture
  • 16 GB on-board storage
  • Wi-Fi connectivity: 802.11 b/g/n
