Mark Donohue

Mark Donohue, a former senior vice president of ad sales at Sony Digital, has joined WildTangent to oversee the Redmond game company’s advertising sales business. Donohue will oversee the company’s social and mobile gaming ad business, and assist with international expansion. WildTangent operates offices in New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Redmond, Los Angeles, Toronto and London.

“WildTangent is just beginning a new era in mobile gaming,” said CEO Mike Peronto.  “Mark’s deep experience in entertainment and game-related advertising is a tremendous asset to our company and our ambitious expansion plans.” Prior to Sony, Donohue worked worked for Atom Entertainment.

Keegan Hall, who previously co-founded Emergent Detection, the third place finisher in the 2010 UW Business Plan Competition, has joined Kirkland-based startup Pirq as director of marketing. In the new role, Hall will oversee all marketing-related functions for the company.  “Over the coming months we will be rolling out a variety of new marketing initiatives to further drive our brand’s awareness,” said Hall. Pirq is led by Seattle entrepreneur James Sun who created the company earlier this year in order to allow mobile phone users to get discounts at location restaurants.

Macdonell

Robby Macdonell, a former employee at Zulily, has joined Seattle startup RescueTime as vice president of product development. RescueTime tracks how users spend their time in front of computers, and Macdonell says in a blog post that he “loves geeking out about data.” For example, Macdonnell, an early user of the service, knows that he has spent 5,643 hours and 9 minutes of computer time over the past four years.

“When RescueTime started a few years ago, the idea of stockpiling these massive piles of data about yourself seemed kinda weird,” he says. “It wasn’t really clear how it could actually be beneficial to people. I feel like that’s starting to change. Particularly in the health space, a lot of really exciting stuff is coming out that clearly shows that giving people more data about themselves can help them make positive changes.”

Sanjay Mavinkurve, a former Google employee, has joined Redfin as director of design and user experience. At Harvard, Mavinkurve worked closely with the Winkelvoss twins on the forerunner of what became Facebook.

AVG Technologies,  an Amsterdam-based Internet and mobile security company, has named John Giamatteo as chief operating officer. Giamatteo was most recently chief operating officer of Solera Holdings, and before that he held a number of senior executive roles at Seattle’s RealNetworks.
