Reed Hastings

Reed Hastings is one busy guy. In addition to running Netflix, the Internet entrepreneur also serves on the boards of Microsoft and Facebook. But most folks probably don’t know about Hastings’ involvement in a tiny Bellevue educational software company called DreamBox Learning, which he helped acquire last year.

Now, Hastings has handed over the chairman reins of the company to Jessie Woolley-Wilson, who took over the CEO duties last September. The company notes that Hastings “remains an enthusiastic investor” and active board member who “will continue to advise the company as it grows.”

Meanwhile, the company continues to add to its executive ranks. Earlier this week, it named Greg Long as Senior Vice President of Product Development and Patti Smith as Vice President of Marketing and Product Management. Long previously served as chief product officer of Rosetta Stone and before that worked at LeapFrog Schoolhouse, while Smith is a former vice president with Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.

Bellevue mobile software company Motricity has named C. Stephen Cordial as interim CFO, following a management purge which has led to the resignations of the CEO, CFO and several VPs. Cordial, 60, is a partner at consulting and executive services firm Tatum. Motricity, whose stock is down 70 percent in the past month, has retained an executive search firm to fill the CFO role on a permanent basis.
