George Moberly

Opscode, a cloud computing startup that specializes in infrastructure automation, continues to expand its fast-growing team. The Seattle company has named George Moberly, a former F5 Networks and Blade Logic product development executive, to the position of vice president of product management.  In a statement, Moberly said that Opscode is at the “center of a major transformation in information technology.”

The company also announced that Opscode co-founder Adam Jacob has been named to the position of chief customer officer. The new roles follow the hiring of Mitch Hill, the former Avanade CEO who joined Opscode as CEO in August. Opscode is backed with $13.5 million from Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Battery Ventures and others.

AppFog, a Portland company backed with nearly $10 million from Ignition Partners, Madrona Venture Group, Founder’s Co-op and others, has named former Salesforce.com sales exec John Higgins as vice president of business development. AppFog’s technologies help clients more effectively build Web pages.

Nathan Kriege

Dwellable, which just last month named Brenda Spoonemore as CEO, has named Nathan Kriege as its third co-founder. The company was started by Adam Doppelt, one of the original founders of Seattle restaurant directory Urbanspoon. Dwellable is creating an online travel site dedicated to helping busy families find affordable vacation rentals in places like Hilton Head, Lake Tahoe and Maui.

“With Nathan on board, we’re going to speed up the pace of our product releases, as well as keep adding new areas on a regular basis,” said Spoonemore.

Kriege previously co-founded Snapvine, which sold to Seattle-based WhitePages. Doppelt and Krieg worked together at Avogadro, a Bellevue communications startup that was sold to Openwave in 2001.

Yukio Morikubo, a former general counsel at drugstore.com and ADIC, has joined Intermec as senior vice president and general counsel. “Yukio’s extensive public company experience and business background further strengthens Intermec’s leadership team in critically important areas including intellectual property, corporate strategy and corporate governance,” said Patrick Byrne, president and chief executive officer of Intermec.
