McMillan

We’ve been tracking some departures, appointments and even new office space in the Pacific Northwest tech industry in recent days. Here are a few notable Tech Moves:

Avvo, the online directory of lawyers and doctors, not only has a new VP of marketing but also new office space. The company, which has moved into the former Meridian Mortgage space in downtown Seattle, just named Leigh McMillan as vice president of marketing. McMillan previously spent five years at Marchex where she served as senior vice president and general manager of the call analytics business. A UW grad, she also has worked at RealNetworks, WildTangent and Pure Networks.

“Avvo is an established and trusted source for expert legal and health advice and is uniquely positioned to capitalize on the growing Q&A market,” she said.

Mitch Lowe, who led the Redbox video rental unit for Coinstar, plans to leave the company to pursue entrepreneurial interests. Coinstar — whose stock is off five percent today — plans to replace Lowe as the company heads into deeper competition with Netflix.

InfoSpace CFO David Binder is leaving the Bellevue Internet search company after seven years to become CFO of Seattle online jewelry retailer Blue Nile.
