Wetpaint’s recent transition to an entertainment and celebrity gossip site appears to be working. Surprise. Surprise. The Seattle startup, which made the switch last fall, making the transition from its wiki-based network of sites, reported today that its entertainment offerings are now attracting three million unique visitors and 15 million page views per month. It also recently topped more than one million Facebook fans.

To put that number in some perspective, Seattle-based Zillow.com — which just filed to go public — is attracting 19 million unique visitors per month.

While founded the same year as Zillow, Wetpaint only a few months ago pivoted to its entertainment focus. That’s an area where another Seattle startup, BuddyTV, is trying to carve its niche as well.

Founded in 2005 by former Blue Nile executive Ben Elowitz, Wetpaint says that its proprietary publishing platform is superior to other online tools.

Wetpaint is backed by Trinity Ventures, Frazier Technology Ventures, Accel Partners, and DAG Ventures.
