You may think that the iPad 2 is simply an incremental improvement. But don’t tell that to Jackson Fish Market co-founder Hillel Cooperman. In his view, Apple’s latest gadget really changes the game. And the feature that sets it apart for him is the front and rear-facing cameras, which he says are absolutely perfect for two of the company’s latest creations.

“The point is this: the iPad 2 (is) changing the kind of software that we can make,” said Cooperman in a video message describing the new products. “It has made it so that the software we’ve been making has finally found its genuine home, the place where it really can excel and people can use it the way it was intended.”

So, what has Cooperman so excited? The Seattle company (which is moving into a mystery new office location) has launched two new iPad applications, both of which utilize video in entirely new ways.

The first offering is called “A Story Before Bed,” an existing mobile app from the company that allows users (think military professionals stationed overseas or grandparents located in other parts of the country) record themselves reading a children’s book to their loved ones.

Prior to the iPad 2, the video recordings had to be done via Webcam on a PC or Mac and then transferred to the device.

Now, with the built-in video camera, users can simply record directly on the iPad 2 as they read “The Itsy Bitsy Spider,” “Baa Baa Black Sheep,” or “Emperor’s New Clothes.” (To start, Jackson Fish Market only has three titles available, but that line-up will change over time as the company makes its full library of more than 300 books available).

The app is free, though users must pay to get access to additional books beyond the few free titles.

The second app — first created for co-founder Jenny Lam’s wedding — is called “Thrilled for You.” Essentially it is a wedding video guest book, allowing guests to leave special video messages for the couple.

Thrilled for You costs $9.99 for the iPhone app and $19.99 for the iPad 2 version.

Here’s Cooperman expressing his enthusiasm for the two new iPad apps.
